Dark pool and off-exchange short volume

Off-exchange short volume is the share of a session's off-exchange volume — the trades executed away from the lit exchanges on ATSs ("dark pools") and by internalizing dealers, reported to FINRA — that was sold short. It comes from FINRA's Reg SHO daily publication: a per-session aggregate published the evening of the trade date, not a live print tape, and its base is the off-exchange tape, not consolidated volume. A high ratio is a positioning magnitude, not a direction.

Which names dominate off-exchange ATS ("dark pool") volume, and the week-over-week movers — FINRA's weekly per-symbol ATS totals for the latest FULLY published week, ranked by ATS share volume among liquid names (the same real dollar-volume floor). Weekly data, published on FINRA's own multi-week lag (~2 weeks Tier-1 NMS, ~4 for the rest) — weeks behind the tape by regulation.
